“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” ~ John F. Kennedy
May 28th is my birthday. For 53 years now I always get a day off for my birthday. That’s right, my birthday is always on memorial day weekend. I love Memorial Day. This weekend is so much bigger then my lil ole birthday. This weekend represents the kind of people that I look up to, I appreciate, I honor… the cause of freedom, the cause of fighting for what is right, the cause to stand up and defend this great country. I honor the past soldiers in this little blog. I honor the present soldiers, I honor this great country period.
I know that it is not P.C.right now to stand up for this country. I know many people have been bamboozled into talking down about this great country. I know that there are many that speak against this country. I don’t! I am grateful for America. I am grateful for the life I live in this free country. I am so glad that I get to walk, breath, live life in this great country. I am grateful for all those that have defended this cause called freedom. I am grateful to all of those that fight the fight so that I can enjoy such a great life.
I will never look down at those that have shed their blood to fight for my freedom period. I will honor those that have fought this fight and are fighting today by living my life freely. In speaking my heart, by speaking the truth, by living the truth. I will honor those fighting and those that have fought by not being p.c., by standing up, by putting my hand over my heart when the National Anthem is played, by being patriotic. I will speak highly of this great country in honor of those that have gone before and are now fighting for my freedom.
“My God! How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy!” ~Thomas Jefferson
I believe Thomas Jefferson is right and Memorial Day is here to remind us all of what precious blessing we are in possession of… America is blessed and I have been blessed because of those that have defended this great land.
I may be considered off in this day and age, but that is fine with me– you see, I believe in bravery. I believe in courage. I believe in fighting for what is right. I believe that there is a right and a wrong. I believe that there is evil. I believe that what I believe is worth dying for therefore I honor those that have fought the fight and are fighting today because of what they believed in.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” ~George S. Patton
I hope that one day I will be remembered as a man that stood for what was right, what I believed in, that I was as brave as past and present soldiers, that I loved my freedom and honored my country and countrymen by the way I lived. Thank you great men and women of the past and great men and women of today. Thank you. I am blessed to live in this great country. I am blessed to be an American. I am blessed to call this great land home. I will honor those that have fought for freedom because it is right and honorable. I am a grateful man.
“Better to fight for something than live for nothing.”
~George S. Patton
